Bilateral stereotactic biopsiesI had a digital diagnostic mamogram with CAD and bilateral ultrasound performed a few weeks ago.
The mammogram found in the right breast a cluster of indeterminate microcalcifications. In the left breast is a cluster of punctate indeterminate microcalcifications. Also present in both breasts are coarse calcifications and calcifications consistent with milk of calcium. The ultrasound found in the right breast a 4 mm cyst, a complex septated cyst measuring 10 x 5 mm, and a hypoechoic well circumscribed oval nodule, 5 x 4 x 3 mm, with posterior enhancement. In the left, several cysts were found. The largest cyst is in left retroareolar region measuring 2.3 cm. these cysts correspond to a well circumscribed nodule in the mammogram. To say the least, all of this scares me. I was suppose to have the biopsies done yesterday or today but the doctors took spring break off. Now I have to wait till Monday to have them done. I am a teacher and had really wanted to get this done while I was off. Unfortunately I will be having it done the week we go back and I will need to get back to work as soon as possible. Can anyone tell me what to expect from a bilateral stereotactic biopsies? Any suggestions?
