MRI before biopsy

Post a new topicby widmerpool on Sat Nov 22, 2008 8:15 pm

I have had a transvaginal ultrasound which indicates a thickening of the uterine wall. My doctor now wants to send me for an MRI before she does a biopsy. I'm living in Canada and there could be an eight week wait for an MRI appointment. Everything I've read online indicates that a biopsy can be performed without having an MRI done first. I have asked for the biopsy to be performed but that is clearly not what the doctor wants to do. Has anyone heard of an MRI being required in order to determine whether or not a biopsy should be performed?
