Hope? Is there any? Just found out 1 hour ago...I just found out a very important person in my life has esopageal cancer as in 1 hour ago.
What stage it is at, has yet to be determined. I can tell you he has lost 30 lbs in 3 months, cannot eat much food or just vomits it up, is severly constipated and has wicked acid reflux. What I am asking is almost impossible I realize, but does this sound like the earlier stages or the latter one? We are reeling.........
Re: Hope? Is there any? Just found out 1 hour ago...How is your friend doing? It's now December. My boyfriend and I just got his results last night. He's in jail. He has stage two they say. He was eating fine. He's been in jail a month and on a visit he said his throat was hurting and he was having difficulty swallowing. I thought it might be a sore throat told him to go the jail's nurse. He did and this is where we are at now. He's taking cemo pill and we both are so afraid. Right now I don't know how to be strong because I keep crying about it because my biggest fear is not ever being able to hold him again.....alive. He didn't do anything 'bad', just something that was very stupid and he's got to spend some time now within the confines of a jail and/or prison. We are thinking perhaps three years. Which in our state if it is that, he'll have to serve 41% which comes to be about 14 months. He never complained about anything but he did have acid reflux a lot. Let me know, if you visit this site at all anymore. I'm new to it as of this evening. But I sure will probably be posting a lot.
Re: Hope? Is there any? Just found out 1 hour ago...My brother had stage 4, inoperable, incurable Esophgeal Cancer, he passed away in July of this year. He was diagnosed in Nov.2008, so his treatment and life only lasted 8 months. I am sure that if their cancer is caught early, the medical treatment can help. It was "Acid Reflux" symptoms that my brother had but he was a procrastinator and put off seeing the doctor for a month or more. His doctor mis-diagnosed him as having Acid Reflux, so it took awhile and more suffering before he saw a Specialist and got the true diagnosis. The diagnosis was given after a Esophoscopy was given ( a scope was used to explore the esophagus). Also in my brother's case the cancer had spread and we didn't even know that until it showed up on a CT Scan.
I wish you all well and if you are a "praying person", it will help right now. I was able to help my brother spiritually and feel blessed to have been able to help him in that very important way. I will pray for all of you that your loved ones get the help they need and can overcome this disease.
