Dads throat cancer did not respond to intense chemo.Hi, my name is Heather. My father finished a second round of intense chemo for his throat cancer and the CT showed no spread but no change in size of the tumors. He was just put in the hospital for pneumonia He has bilateral pleural effusions. I am so worried and scared. The worst part though is that he gets so depressed. The nurse at Dads oncologist did say to me that he had end stage. I don't know what to make of that. He actually had an appointment today to see his oncolog. but coulnt go because hes in the hospital. I know he doesnt have much time left. I just wish I knew wether its days, weeks, months... I know my father would like to know also. Is there anyone out there going through a similar situation?
Re: Dads throat cancer did not respond to intense chemo.Hi Heather,
My Advise to you is to ask his doctor. He/she would be the only one who can answer that question in the best way that they can. It may also depend on your fathers emotional state. They say stress feeds on cancer patients. He needs to try to overcome his depression. I was diagnosed with cancer in 2007. I was devasted then, but I didn't let it overcome me. I learned about how to fight it before and after Radiation and Chemo. On the website webmd there is a lot of information to help patients of all kinds of illnesses and they can answer a lot of questions that you may have. Fruits and vegetables are the number cancer fighter. Vegetables like Broccoli, mushrooms and fruits like strawberries, blueberries, rasberries etc. They are high in antitoxants. Good Luck and may God bless your father, Carmen
