Inquiry about father's situation.

Post a new topicby AZ11 on Sat Nov 07, 2009 4:27 pm

To make a long story short my father has head and neck cancer. He was receiving chemo/radiation for a tumor on his neck near his artery. Its size was around 7x4x3. Since the therapy he received it has gone down in size but not enough. I don't know a whole lot about the entire situation mainly because he moved across the country to live near my older brother. My brother is less savvy than I or my mom when it comes to asking the physicians about the situation. I guess what I am trying to ask, but not so eloquently, is what should I expect? He has multiple serious prior medical conditions which makes surgery out of the question. He is only 61 years old 5'10", weighs 145 lbs because of how sick he has been, and possibly might have brain mets but who would know.... The physicians haven't done a second PET scan yet. I am just frustrated that I don't know anything. I am visiting him for thanksgiving but I am just out in left field with this whole situation and I can't stand it.

If anyone has a response, or the time, I will thank you ahead of time.....

P.S. how serious is Stage four for head and neck cancer, since he can't receive radiation anymore??
